Annwyl (meaning Darling in Cymraeg Welsh) is an independent, artisan perfumery based in Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.
Annwyl is focused on the artistry of olfaction, using fragrance to tell stories and evoke feeling & memory. Central to the creative process is the idea that fragrance, like any artistic medium, can be profoundly expressive, evocative, and transportive.
I've always felt that there is a special kinship between perfumery and the written word. Both are artistic mediums that rely greatly on the imagination to create its own audio-visual elements to a story, transforming an idea in the mind, into image, sound, feeling, fantasy, and memory.
Each fragrance is accompanied by a short piece of prose; an excerpt of a story that can only be finished by the wearer.
Annwyl fragrances are made in two strengths:
Bold fragrances are the stronger offerings, roughly equivalent to the typical Eau de Parfum classification.
Italic fragrances are the lighter and fresher offering, like a typical Eau de Toilette.
Annwyl fragrances are designed, made, filled, and packaged by hand.

My name is Grace Darling (she/her, they/them), and I am the founder, perfumer and director of Annwyl Perfumes.
I started Annwyl in 2025, launching fully in 2026, after practicing perfumery privately for some time; making fragrances and telling stories for my wife & myself, friends, and family.
I've been an artist and storyteller, in one form or another, for most of my life. In recent years, perfumery has become my medium of choice. I have fallen in love with the way a fragrance can, at once, be so abstract and able to be interpreted & projected upon by the wearer and, at the same time, tell a story with such clarity and specificity.
Each Annwyl fragrance tells its own story, and I hope each wearer will have their own version to tell.
It truly means the world to me to share these stories with you.
I'm introducing myself here, not just to tell my own story, but because it is important to me to express that Annwyl is a project that is deeply personal to me.
